Homeopathy in Stirling

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a system of medicine which treats the whole person. Homeopathy can help with most complaints including physical conditions, stress and emotional difficulties.

What happens in a consultation?

Homeopathy is based on the philosophy that mind, body and emotions are not separate. The homeopath seeks to match the remedy with the patient’s psychological and physical symptoms.

This will involve taking a full case history and some observations including body posture, expressions and family background.

Prolonged emotional stress can result in physical problems and a weakened immune system. This first in depth consultation will take around 1.5 hours. (follow up appointments last either 30
minutes or 1 hour).

Remedies can be made from 1000’s of substances

More about Homeopathy:

Homeopathy is a safe, gentle and chemical free form of medicine. It is suitable for all patients including babies, pregnant women and the elderly. Importantly there are almost no contra-indications with conventional medicine; therefore when necessary, homeopathy and conventional medicine can be used alongside to give the most
appropriate and effective care. There are however many situations where conventional drugs would be inadvisable, for example in pregnancy. Homeopathy has an excellent safety record and can be used to support the many discomforts in pregnancy and childbirth; such as nausea, backache, insomnia and morning sickness. Growing numbers of patients are choosing a more natural solution to their healthcare needs, for example those suffering from stress, anxiety or depression. Stress has been linked to decreased functioning of the immune system and raised cholesterol levels. Emotional shocks and grief, exhaustion and life changes can all leave us prone to illness. Homeopathy is an early intervention to support you through difficult life events. There are now several high quality clinical trials demonstrating positive results with homeopathy. Several observational studies in the last few years have shown patients with mental health problems were significantly better after homeopathic treatment.* Call our Homeopath with any questions and with no obligation.

Expect your Homeopath to spend between an hour and an hour and a half with you on your first appointment. (Follow up appointments are usually one hour) The consultation process is confidential, thorough and in-depth. Expect to consider all aspects of your life and lifestyle. Your Homeopath will want to understand as much about you as possible. You will be asked about your health history, your personal life, diet and other significant events in order to establish a holistic picture of you. Homeopathic medicines are usually called ‘remedies’ and are prescribed on the holistic picture presented and not usually on a small set of physical symptoms.

Homeopathy works on the concept of treating ‘like cures like’. You may already be familiar with the concept; the ingredient used to treat burning neuralgic pain has capsaicin (the hot ingredient in chilli peppers), the stimulant Ritalin is used to treat children with ADHD and small doses of pollen and other allergens are used to de-sensitise allergic patients. The key difference is that homeopathic remedies use natural substances in tiny doses that ensure side effects are negligible.

Chronic conditions are likely to benefit from several monthly appointments but acute conditions usually require one short simple consultation. Patients are supported throughout and allowed to heal at their own pace.
