Ear (Auricular) Acupuncture

Ear acupuncture is offered by Linda Buick. Our qualified Nurse and Chief Complementary Therapist. She is a qualified MTAT ear acupuncturist.

Ear acupuncture is the art of inserting surgical steel needles into acupuncture points on the outer ear.  Ear acupuncture is a quick and simple treatment, using the ear to treat the whole body. This gentle stimulation creates a specific response, aids our natural healing mechanism and helps us to rebalance. Based on ancient Chinese practice, thin sterile needles are inserted into the surface of the external ear at specific points, which affects nerve impulses and the central nervous system. Most individuals experience a beneficial effect on their health and wellbeing. as sleep and relaxation are improved. Evidence suggests ear acupuncture can help pain reduction, stress and anxiety. headaches , migraine, nausea, hay fever and ADHD.

Ear acupuncture can be used as a standalone therapy or alongside Reflexology for maximum effectiveness. The treatment requires no removal of clothing ( except footwear if having Reflexology). Up to 5 needles are placed in the ear for 30-45 minutes whilst you sit or lie and relax. Vital energy (Qi) will travel around the bodies meridians which the acupuncture points affect.

There are very few contra-indications to ear acupuncture and very few side-effects.

MTAT ear acupuncturists are trained to a high standard and observe a code of conduct published by the British Acupuncture Council. (MTAT, Microsystems Therapies and Training).

Ear acupuncture can be  administered to all age groups, from children as young as six.
