Accredited in Italy as Psychologist, I moved to Scotland in 2007. I have experience in counselling/talking therapy and have worked with clients coming to me for different reasons: in some instances, feeling a bit lost in life and wanting to understand themselves or explore what they want; in some instances for low mood, depression or anxiety; in other instances for past trauma, eating disorders, self-harm, relationship, and family problems.
I work with adults and with young people (I have completed a COSCA accredited course in Counselling Young People, at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow).
I have experience in delivering workshops on psycho-education, resilience, procrastination, wellbeing, and career vocation, and individual sessions on the same themes. As well as working with clients, I undertook academic teaching and research in Psychology at universities both in Scotland (University of Edinburgh, University of Stirling) and in Italy (Universitá degli Studi di Firenze), on different areas of Psychology (including Statistics for Psychology, Neuropsychology, Psycholinguistics, Psychodynamic, Psychology of Groups, Work and Organisational Psychology, and Social Psychology). I worked in Scotland with charities, GP surgeries, universities, high schools and primary schools.
Currently I work in my private practice with adults, young people, couples and families; I collaborate with the University of Stirling as Mental Health Mentor; with Women’s Aid as counsellor; with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UK, and on projects promoted by the Italian Consulate, offering psychological support, as well as designing and delivering workshops.
While my main approach is psychodynamic and relational systemic, I tailor and adapt my intervention to the individual and after assessing their different requirements and demands. I do so using skills and techniques that I learned during my continuous professional development in the UK and previously in Italy, from the following approaches/models:
- Group Dynamics
- Transactional Analysis
- Trauma Informed
- Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Stress Control, Mindfulness
- Relationship Art Therapy
- Play Therapy
I registered with the “Ordine degli Psicologi della Toscana (Order of Psychologists of Tuscany in Italy) (n.5158) , and I am a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS n.266295) , applying to be registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
